Early Life and EducationSamvel Abrahamyan was born on March 17, 1949, in Razdan, Armenian SSR. From 1966 to 1971, he studied at the Faculty of Mechanization of the Armenian Agricultural Institute, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
Military Service and Early Career
After completing his education, Samvel Abrahamyan served in the Soviet Army from 1971 to 1973. Following his military service, he worked at the Razdan Machine Melioration Station from 1973 to 1974. He then joined the Razdan Committee of the Lenin Komsomol (LKSMA), where he served as head of the organizational department and second secretary.
Political Career
In 1974, Samvel Abrahamyan became the first secretary of the Razdan RK LKSMA. Subsequently, he held various positions within the Razdan RK CP, including head of the industrial department and head of the party-organizational department.
From 1979 to 1982, Samvel Abrahamyan worked for the Central Committee of the LKSMA. He then joined the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA), where he held various roles, including instructor, sector head, deputy head of the Department of Agriculture and Food Industry, and finally head of the agrarian department.
Post-Soviet Era
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Samvel Abrahamyan continued his political career in Armenia. From 1992 to 1995, he served as deputy minister of food and procurement. From 1995 to 1998, he was appointed first deputy minister of agriculture and food.
In 1998, Samvel Abrahamyan was appointed governor of the Kotayk province, a position he held until 2001. During his tenure, he became an academician of the Armenian National Academy of Public Administration (MANPO).
Later Career
From 2001 to 2003, Samvel Abrahamyan served as chairman of the State Commission for Economic Competition of Armenia.
