Early Life and EducationSandy Amerio was born on October 4, 1973. From 1996 to 1999, she studied art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nantes Métropele. She further pursued film directing at the National Studio of Contemporary Arts 'Le Fresnoy' from 2000 to 2002.
Early Career: Personal and Social Narratives
Amerio's debut film, 'Surfing on (our) History' (2000), explored familial relationships and personal interpretation. Her 2002 video, 'Waiting Time / Romania,' featured non-actors who portrayed the economic struggles of Romania and the Roma diaspora.
Business Storytelling Pioneer
In her film 'Hear Me, Children-Yet-to-Be-Born' (2004), Amerio introduced the concept of business storytelling to France. The film featured American storytelling experts and explored the power of narratives in business, culture, and history. In the same year, she published a book on the subject.
Expanding Narratives: 'Basement' and 'Wandering Souls'
Amerio's video 'Basement' (2006) delved into the duality and tragedy of human existence. From 2008 to 2010, she collaborated with Patrick Bouvet on 'Wandering Souls,' an interdisciplinary project that combined poetry, visuals, and music to explore external and internal threats faced by the United States.
Performance, Music, and Research
Amerio began performing live readings of her own texts, accompanied by experimental music. She also released the album 'L'Hôtesse' in 2011. From 2010 to 2012, she was part of the research group 'F For Real' at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nantes Métropele, investigating the intersection of reality and fiction in contemporary art and cinema.
