Wesley Wales Anderson is an American filmmaker, writer, and producer known for his commercial and short film projects. He was born on May 1, 1969, in Houston, Texas, USA. Anderson grew up in a family of three brothers, with his father, Melver Leonard Anderson, working in the advertising business and his mother, Texas Anne Burroughs, being a former archaeologist turned real estate agent. Anderson attended Westchester High School and St. John's School, a private institution in Houston which later became the filming location for his second film, "Rushmore".

Early Career

Anderson studied philosophy at the University of Texas, where he met Owen Wilson. Together, they created a short version of the crime comedy "Bottle Rocket", which Wilson not only acted in but also wrote the screenplay for. The short film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 1993 and caught the attention of renowned producer James L. Brooks, who helped Anderson and Wilson turn it into a feature film.
