Biography of Sarah Schleper

Sarah Schleper is an American alpine ski racer. She has been competing since 1995 and achieved her only World Cup victory in Switzerland in 2005 in the slalom competition. Born in Colorado, Sarah was raised by her single father, who owned a small ski shop in Vail. She received her first pair of skis as a gift on her second birthday and eagerly tried them out on a hill near her house on the first snowy day. Skiing was initially just a hobby for her, but it soon became evident that she had talent, so she was sent to a ski school to further develop her skills.

Early Career

Sarah began pursuing skiing professionally at the age of eleven when she joined the 'Vail' ski club. Within five years, she made it to the World Cup. During these five years, Schleper won five gold medals in the Junior Olympics and became the champion of the Whistler Cup in slalom in 1994. She also participated in three Olympic Games, won a silver medal at the Junior World Championships, and became a four-time US Slalom Champion. Unfortunately, she had to miss the 2007 season due to an injury.

Motherhood and Comeback

In 2008, Schleper gave birth to her son, Lasse. Despite this, she did not take a long break and quickly returned to the slopes. She successfully regained her form and performed well in three World Cups, including finishing thirteenth in the slalom competition in Aspen. This allowed her to qualify for the World Championships for the fourth time in her life. Sarah believes that her previous performance at the 2006 Olympics was not as good as she would have liked, but she is confident that she will achieve higher results in Vancouver in 2010. She is thrilled to be back in the ski sport and managed to establish a good relationship with her teammates, even though many of them joined the team while she was absent. Currently, Schleper resides in Europe, near Innsbruck, Austria.

Olympic Dreams and Retirement Plans

After participating in four Olympic Games, Sarah easily proved that she deserved to be part of the team going to Vancouver. She entered the top ten in the World Cup slalom and giant slalom races preceding the Olympics. She is considered the best female skier in both slalom disciplines in the United States. Despite her success in skiing, Sarah has other passions as well. She enjoys surfing, practicing yoga, and mountain biking. To maintain her fitness during the summer, she sometimes even turns to water skiing. After the upcoming Olympics, Sarah plans to retire from professional sports. She is considering buying a farm in Mexico and living off her own land. Schleper greatly admires her father, who she believes molded her into the perfect athlete she is today and taught her how to win. Lasse, her son, is the joy of Sarah's life, and she spends a lot of time taking care of his upbringing and education. It seems that Lasse will soon be proficient in Spanish, German, and English. Although Sarah will have to rely on her father to take on a significant load in preparation for the Olympics, she is confident that she will make up for lost time in the future.
