Childhood and Early Life
Born on December 28, 1990, in the port city of Esbjerg, Denmark, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina was raised with her two brothers, Elijah and John. The family later relocated to Svendborg, where she attended the local gymnasium. Growing up, she was known for her shy and imaginative nature, spending her time playing with dolls and telling them stories.
Aspiring Actress
From the age of six, Boussnina discovered her passion for acting, joining a children's theater. At 15, she began studying privately with a renowned Danish playwright and teacher. Inspired by meeting her idol, actress Sonja Richter, Boussnina attended numerous auditions and eventually landed her debut role in the comedy series "Park Road" in 2009.
Early Career Struggles
Despite her early success, Boussnina faced challenges due to her lack of formal acting training. Unfavorable reviews and casting rejections led her to question her abilities. However, her performance in the 2014 historical drama "1864" proved to be a turning point, as she received critical acclaim for her portrayal of a war-torn character.
International Breakthrough
In 2017, Boussnina achieved her international breakthrough with the historical series "The Last Kingdom." Several more international projects followed, including the leading role in the 2019 drama "Birdcatcher." Her performance in the 2020 sci-fi thriller "Outside the Wire" garnered her recognition at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Personal Life
Since 2016, Boussnina has been married to musician Louis Samson, vocalist of the Danish duo Julias Moon. The couple is expecting their first child in 2022. Boussnina shares glimpses of her personal and professional life on her active Instagram profile.
Current Projects
Boussnina continues to star in various projects. Currently in post-production are the drama "The Way of the Wind," based on biblical parables, and the fantasy film "The Islander," in which she plays a character who gains the ability to see the future.
