Early Life and NHL Draft

Scott Clemmensen, a professional American ice hockey goalie, was selected 215th overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils.

NHL Debut and Backup Role

Five years later, Clemmensen made his NHL debut with the Devils. However, behind Martin Brodeur, he spent much of his time in the AHL with the Albany River Rats, splitting time with Ari Ahonen.

Move to Toronto and Return to New Jersey

In 2007, Clemmensen signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs, serving as their third-string goalie. After a season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, he returned to the Devils.

Unexpected Starting Role and Recognition

After Brodeur's injury in 2008, Clemmensen seized the opportunity to become a starting goaltender in the NHL for the first time. In 2009, he received a nomination for the Bill Masterton Trophy, honoring perseverance, sportsmanship, and hockey dedication.

Florida Panthers and Return to New Jersey

Clemmensen joined the Florida Panthers in 2009 for three years, extending his contract for an additional two years in 2012. After being placed on waivers in 2014, he returned to the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage. In 2014, he signed a two-year contract with the New Jersey Devils, where he began his NHL journey.

Coaching Career

On June 30, 2015, Scott Clemmensen was appointed as the New Jersey Devils' goaltending development coach.

International Play

Clemmensen represented the United States at two World Championships, in 2009 and 2010.
