Early Life and Club Career
Oleg Yevenko (born 1985 in Novopolotsk, Belarus) is a renowned Belarusian ice hockey defenseman. He began his professional career in 2002 with Polimer Novopolotsk before joining Minsk Dynamo in the Belarusian Extraleague from 2003 to 2005.
NHL Draft and International Debut
In 2004, Yevenko was drafted 151st overall by the Detroit Red Wings. He subsequently played for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the United States Hockey League from 2005 to 2007. After a brief return to Minsk Dynamo in the Extraleague (2007-2008), Yevenko moved to North America again, signing with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL), the farm team of the Red Wings.
National Team Representation
Yevenko has represented Belarus at various levels of international competition. He made his junior debut at the U18 World Championships in 2003 and 2004. From 2004 onward, he played for the Belarusian U20 team, participating in the U20 World Championship in 2005. Since 2008, Yevenko has been a regular member of the Belarusian national team, participating in the World Championships in 2008 and 2010, as well as the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
