Biography of Sean Levert
Sean Levert - an American R&B singer. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Eddie Levert, the lead vocalist of the group 'The O'Jays'. Sean formed the trio 'LeVert' with his older brother Gerald Levert and childhood friend Marc Gordon. Together, they recorded a number of successful hits in the R&B charts in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Solo Career
In 1995, Sean decided to pursue a solo career. His debut album, 'The Other Side', was recorded with the help of Atlantic Records. At the peak of his popularity, the album reached number 22 on the US R&B and Hip-Hop Albums chart, and number 146 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The album included several successful singles, including 'Put Your Body Where Your Mouth Is' (40th place in the US R&B Singles chart) and 'Same One' (57th place in the US R&B Singles chart).
Legal Troubles and Death
In 2008, Levert was sentenced to 22 months in prison for failure to pay child support for his three children. During his time in the Cuyahoga County correctional facility, Sean became ill and experienced hallucinations and high blood pressure. He passed away on March 30, just six days after entering prison. The Cuyahoga County Coroner's report stated that Levert's death was caused by complications related to sarcoidosis, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, and traces of drug withdrawal from the medication 'Xanax'. Medical professionals believe that a combination of these factors led to his death.
Personal Life
At the time of his death, Sean left behind his wife Angela Lowe and six children - nineteen-year-old Sharon Woods and Keith Potts, sixteen-year-old Sean Levert Jr. and Bréoni Levert, twelve-year-old Brandon Levert, and three-year-old Chad Levert. Sean was 39 years old.
