Early Life and Education
Born on July 8, 1973, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Sebastian Maniscalco is the son of Italian immigrants Salvatore and Rose. Raised in a devout Catholic household, he served as an altar boy at St. Cecilia's Church. Sebastian attended Rolling Meadows High School, where he was a classmate of future actor Gary Cole. He later graduated from Northern Illinois University.
Career Beginnings
At the age of 25, Sebastian moved to Los Angeles and worked as a waiter at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. It was during this time that he began his stand-up career, performing at open mics in bars and bowling alleys.
Stand-Up Success and Film Debut
In 2005, Sebastian became a regular at Hollywood's The Comedy Store, where comedy legends such as George Carlin, Billy Crystal, and Eddie Murphy had performed. The same year, he was featured in the documentary film "Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights."
Sebastian made his television debut with his own show in 2009. His film debut came in 2017 in the crime comedy "The House." In 2018, he played a pastor in "Tag," based on an article in The Wall Street Journal.
Breaking into Film
Sebastian's breakthrough film role came in 2018 as Johnny Venere in the Oscar-winning "Green Book." The film starred Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. Since then, he has appeared in films such as "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (2023), "Spinning Gold" (2023), and "About My Father" (2023).
Personal Life
Sebastian married filmmaker Lana Gomez in 2013. They have two children, Seraphina Simone and Caruso Jack. He is known for his height of 5'9" (175 cm).
Current Projects
In 2023, Sebastian is continuing to expand his filmography. He has created the miniseries "How to Be a Bookie" and has been cast in the upcoming drama "The Oscar House."
