Sebastian Stan is an American actor of Romanian descent, best known for his role as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2015, Stan appeared in films such as 'Ricki and the Flash', 'The Martian', and 'The Bronze'.

Sebastian Stan was born on August 13, 1982, in Constanța, Romania. His parents divorced when he was two years old. At the age of eight, Stan moved to Vienna, Austria with his pianist mother after the Romanian Revolution. Four years later, they relocated to Rockland County, New York when his mother married Anthony Fruhauf, the director of the school Stan attended.

During his school years, Sebastian had notable roles in several plays, including 'Cyrano de Bergerac', 'Little Shop of Horrors', and 'West Side Story'. He attended the Stagedoor Manor summer camp, where he participated in various theater productions. It was during this time that he decided to dedicate his life to acting and applied to various institutions to pursue acting programs. He was accepted into the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Stan also had the opportunity to study acting at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, England.

Stan obtained American citizenship in 2002.
