Early Career and National Debut:Diego Vásquez, a talented Uruguayan midfielder, began his professional career in 2000 with Rentistas from Montevideo. In 2003, he joined Liverpool Montevideo, another Uruguayan club. Vásquez's impressive performances caught the attention of the Uruguayan national team, and he made a single appearance in a friendly match in 2005.
Domestic Success with Nacional:
In 2005, Vásquez joined Nacional de Montevideo, one of Uruguay's most prestigious clubs. During his time with Nacional, he won two league titles (2005, 2005/06) and participated in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition.
Argentine Adventure and European Stint:
In 2007, Vásquez moved to Argentina to join Estudiantes, who had previously won the Apertura 2006 tournament. After a brief spell in Argentina, he signed with the Ukrainian club FC Chornomorets Odessa in August 2007. Vásquez made a significant impact during his debut season in the Ukrainian Premier League, scoring 4 goals in 22 appearances.
Returns to Uruguay and International Loan:
In 2009, Vásquez returned to Liverpool Montevideo on loan. Later that year, he rejoined Chornomorets Odessa but left again in early 2010 when he was loaned to Beitar Jerusalem in Israel.
Globe-Trotting and Domestic Domination:

However, his stay was short-lived, and he was loaned to Hangzhou Greentown of the Chinese Super League for two years in January 2011. Upon his return, Vásquez played for Cerro Largo before joining Peñarol in August 2012. He went on to win another Uruguayan league title with Peñarol in 2009.
