Biography of Sebastien Ogier

Sebastien Ogier is a French racing driver who currently competes in the 'adult' World Rally Championship for the 'Citroën' team. He is partnered with Julien Ingrassia.

Junior Rally Champion

Ogier's first successful performance came in the French Peugeot 206 Cup race in 2007. A year later, he triumphed in the Junior World Rally Championship series. Driving a 'Citroën C2' for the 'Equipe de France FFSA' team, Ogier secured a convincing victory.

Early Successes

Making his debut in Mexico, Ogier showcased his exceptional driving skills and emerged as the best in his age group. His main competitor, Ricardo Treviño, was disqualified for using unauthorized driving gloves. Ogier continued to achieve high results in races in Jordan and Germany. However, in the Catalonia race, he damaged the radiator of his 'Citroën 2' after a collision, forcing him to withdraw from the competition. Despite this setback, Ogier remained resilient and eventually secured a well-deserved victory on his home race in Corsica, earning a silver medal.

Entering the World Rally Championship

After being crowned the fastest junior in the world, Ogier earned the opportunity to compete in the 'adult' level of the World Rally Championship. He raced in a special 'Citroën C4' and impressed spectators by winning the first stage and maintaining a strong lead in subsequent competitions. Unfortunately, a crash on the second day of the race resulted in him dropping from eighth place.

Continued Success

In January 2009, Ogier participated in a race in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge series, driving a 'Peugeot 207 S2000' in Monte Carlo. Despite Juho Hänninen puncturing a tire, Ogier managed to overtake other skilled drivers, such as Freddy Loix and Stéphane Sarrazin, and emerged as the winner of the stage.

Joining the Citroën Junior Team

For the new season of the World Rally Championship, Ogier signed a contract with the 'Citroën Junior Team,' a subsidiary project of the 'Citroën' works team. He began the season impressively, achieving his personal best with a sixth-place finish in Ireland. In Argentina, he performed slightly worse, finishing in seventh place. However, he reached his best result of the season at the Acropolis Rally, securing a well-deserved silver medal and becoming the first non-Citroën works driver to reach the podium in the history of the race.

Teaming up with Kimi Räikkönen

In the 2010 season, Ogier continued to represent the 'Citroën Junior Team,' alongside his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, the former Formula 1 champion. Ogier started the season with a second-place finish in Mexico, reaching the podium once again. Although he narrowly missed victory in New Zealand, he claimed his first World Rally Championship win at the Rally de Portugal.
