Early Life and Education
Russian artist was born on February 10, 1949, in Moscow, into an officer's family. From 1959, he studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya Art School. From 1966 to 1972, he attended the Moscow Architectural Institute.
Artistic Career
After graduating, he began working in design organizations while pursuing graphic design and later painting (from the late 1970s). From 1979 to 1988, he worked at the Monumental and Decorative Art Factory.
Recognition and International Acclaim
In 1977, he began exhibiting his works in basements on Malaya Gruzinskaya. In the fall of 1985, his works caught the attention of New York dealers and collectors. From 1987 onwards, his paintings were widely exhibited in the United States, Western Europe, and the USSR (Russia).
