Early Life and Education
Semen Samoilovich was born in Ukraine and rose to prominence as one of the most renowned figures in Odessa's theatrical scene during the 1960s and 1990s. After completing his studies at an aviation technical school, he pursued higher education at the Moscow Aviation Technical Institute but left without graduating. Instead, he enrolled in the Boris Shchukin Theatre School and simultaneously worked at a helicopter factory.
Theatrical Journey
Upon graduating from the theatre school in 1955, Samoilovich embarked on his professional acting career at the Chelyabinsk Theatre of Musical Drama. In 1960, he joined the Odessa Theatre of Musical Comedy, where he remained until 1990. He then moved to the Odessa Russian Drama Theatre named after Ivanov.
Film and Music
In addition to his theatrical work, Samoilovich made his mark in the film industry from 1963 onwards. He also recorded albums featuring Odessa folklore songs and performed on the radio with his musical repertoire.
Legacy
A year after Samoilovich's passing, a bas-relief was erected on the facade of his home in Odessa. The funds were raised by a public committee led by Anna Chernobrodskaya, a testament to the deep admiration for his artistic legacy.
Final Resting Place
Semen Samoilovich was laid to rest at the Tairovsky Cemetery in Odessa.
