Sergei Dmitrievich Balukhaty was an esteemed Soviet literary scholar and bibliographer. As a member-correspondent of the USSR Academy of Sciences, he held the distinguished position of professor at Samara University from 1919 to 1923, and at Leningrad University until his passing.
Literary Legacy
Balukhaty's scholarly endeavors primarily centered around the works of Maxim Gorky and Anton Chekhov. He served as the head of the Department of 20th-Century Russian Literature at the Pushkin House (Institute of Russian Literature, USSR Academy of Sciences) from 1930 onwards.
Wartime Resilience
Balukhaty endured the relentless siege of Leningrad during World War II. Despite the hardships, he continued his research and provided unwavering support to colleagues and students.
Passing and Legacy
