Education
Igor Bogdanov graduated with honors from Buguruslan Oil Technical School, obtaining a qualification as a "Petroleum Technician."
In 1981, he received his diploma with honors from the Mountain-Oil Faculty of the Ufa Oil Institute, specializing in "Technology and Integrated Mechanization of Oil and Gas Field Development", earning the qualification of "Mining Engineer."
Early Career
From 1981 to 1985, Bogdanov held various positions in the "Severneftegas" department of the "Okhaneftgasdobycha" Production Association.
From 1985 to 1988, he served as an instructor in the propaganda department of the Sakhalin Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), overseeing the oil and gas sector.
Leadership in Sakhalin
Bogdanov became the head of the "Okhaneftgas" Petroleum and Gas Production Department of the "Sakhalinmorneftegaz" Production Association from 1988 to 1993.
He served as acting general director and later general director of "Sakhalinmorneftegaz" from 1993 to 1998.
Rosneft Presidency
In July 1997, Bogdanov was appointed vice president of "Rosneft" for the coordination of Far Eastern projects.
In October 1998, he became the president of "Rosneft", a position he has held ever since.
Scientific Recognition and Awards
Bogdanov has authored numerous scientific papers and holds a Doctorate in Technical Sciences.
He is an academician and full member of the International Academy of Fuel and Energy Complex.
For his courage and effective organization of rescue operations during the devastating earthquake in the Nefttegorsk settlement in the Sakhalin Oblast in 1995, he was awarded the "Order of Honor."
Bogdanov has also received the honorary titles of "Honorary Oilman" and "Honored Worker of the Oil and Gas Industry of the Russian Federation" for his significant contributions to the oil and gas industries of Sakhalin Oblast and the Russian Federation.
Personal Life
Igor Bogdanov is married and has two sons.
