Birth and Early Life

Born on October 27, 1949, in Norilsk, Russia, Sergey Gavlich's path to acting began in Leningrad, where he pursued his studies at the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography (LGITMiK).

Theatrical Education and Early Career

After initially failing to gain admission to LGITMiK, Gavlich attended the Institute of Culture for two years before serving in the military. Upon his return, he successfully enrolled in LGITMiK, where he studied under the tutelage of I. O. Gorbachev and L. G. Gavrilova. Graduating in 1975, Gavlich spent the next four years at the Pskov Drama Theater, performing in productions such as "Levsha" (as Levsha) and "Don Juan" (as Sganarelle).

Return to Leningrad and Career at the Izmaylovskiy Garden Theater

Returning to Leningrad, Gavlich joined the Izmaylovskiy Garden Theater under the direction of V. Malyshchitsky. There, he played notable roles in "Sto bratyev Bestuzhevykh" (as the Cabman) and "Chetyre pesni v nepogodu" (as the Visitor), among others.

Transition to the Molodyozhny Theater

With the arrival of director E. M. Padve at the Molodyozhny Theater, Gavlich briefly ventured into directing, participating in the production of "Zvuchala muzyka v sadu" and "Kakaya muzyka byla, kakaya muzyka zvuchala." However, he ultimately returned to acting, portraying characters such as the Old Man in "People and Mice" and Kazakov in "Duck Hunting" (both directed by Padve).

Collaboration with A. Burago

A significant period of Gavlich's career coincided with director A. Burago. He played Botkin in "Anastasia" at the Hermitage Theater and the title role in "The Naked King" and the Traveler in "Fando and Lis" at the Molodyozhny Theater.

Work with S. Ya. Spivak and Other Directors

Under the direction of S. Ya. Spivak, Gavlich portrayed Kulibin in "The Storm." His current repertoire at the Molodyozhny Theater includes roles in "The Threepenny Opera" (as Smith), "The Days of the Turbins" (as Fedor), and "The Lark" (as Cauchon).

Other Theatrical and Media Engagements

Beyond his work in the theater, Gavlich has also appeared in television series and participated in антрепризных (private) productions, including "Kartiny iz zhizni devitsy Lyubovi Otradnoy" (as a director).
