Education and Early Career
In 1980, after completing high school, he enrolled in the prestigious Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI). He graduated with honors in 1986, specializing in radio engineering. Subsequently, from 1986 to 1988, he worked as an engineer at the MPEI Department.
Banking and Financial Sector
1986-1993: Held various positions in banking and educational institutions, including NIPEBANK (Deputy Chairman of the Board) and Promradtekhbank.
1993: Joined YUKOS Oil Company as Head of Finance, later becoming Vice President and Vice President of Finance and Securities.
Governmental Roles
1998-1999: Served as Minister of Fuel and Energy of the Russian Federation.
1998: Appointed Chairman of the Board of Representatives for the State at RAO Gazprom and RAO UES Rossii.
1998: Became Co-Chairman of the Russian Union of Fuel Exporters (SONEK).
Private Sector Leadership
1999: Founded the Agency for Investment and Development of the Fuel and Energy Complex (ZAO).
