Early Life and Education

Serhii Kyslytsya was born in Ukraine. He graduated from the Faculty of International Law at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Diplomatic Career

Entry into Foreign Service

In 1992, Kyslytsya began his diplomatic career as an intern at the European Regional Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In 1993, he became an attaché and later a third secretary in the same department.

Positions in the US and Ukraine

From 2001 to 2003, Kyslytsya served as a political advisor at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States. He subsequently worked as a counselor-envoy at the US embassy from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, he returned to Ukraine as deputy director of the Second Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Western Europe).

Senior Diplomatic Posts

From 2006 to 2014, Kyslytsya was director of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In March 2014, he became deputy foreign minister of Ukraine and assumed the additional role of Ukraine's representative on the Executive Board of UNESCO in January 2015.

Ambassador to the UN

On December 19, 2019, Kyslytsya was appointed Ukraine's permanent representative to the United Nations. He presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on February 20, 2020, officially commencing his role.

Kyslytsya is fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, English, Spanish, and French.
