Early Life and Education
Serhii Kuzmenko was born on January 22, 1975, in Oleksandriia, Ukraine. He earned a degree in agronomy from the Kirovohrad Institute of Agricultural Engineering in 1997. He later received a master's degree in public administration from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Institute of State Administration in 2011.
Agricultural Career
After graduating, Kuzmenko worked as an agronomist and deputy chairman of the board of the agricultural firm "Holovkivska" from 1997 to 2000. He then became commercial director of his father's company, "UkrAgroKom," specializing in agriculture, from 2000 to 2006.
Political Career
Kuzmenko entered politics in 2002 when he was elected to the Oleksandriia District Council. He served as deputy chairman of the district council from 2006 to 2010 and as chairman of the Oleksandriia District State Administration from 2010 to 2012.
In 2012, Kuzmenko was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament as a member of the Party of Regions. He resigned from the faction in 2014 and later left the party altogether.
Head of Kirovohrad Oblast State Administration
In 2014, President Petro Poroshenko appointed Kuzmenko as head of the Kirovohrad Oblast State Administration. Despite facing protests from local activists alleging his involvement with anti-Maidan groups, Kuzmenko held the position until 2019.
Mayor of Oleksandriia
In 2020, Kuzmenko was elected Mayor of Oleksandriia in the first round of voting. He assumed office on December 4, 2020.
Philanthropy
Kuzmenko supports hospitals, kindergartens, schools, and community organizations in Oleksandriia and the surrounding region. He funds annual car and motorcycle races in the city and has provided financial support for the publication of literature.
Football
Kuzmenko has been involved in football as honorary president of the professional football club "UkrAgroKom" (2010-2012). In 2013, he acquired FC "Oleksandria" and became its president. The two clubs were later merged into FC "Oleksandria."
Family
Kuzmenko is married to Natalia and has two children, Ivan and Anastasia. His father, Anatoliy, is a politician and entrepreneur, and his mother, Lidia, is a homemaker.
