Childhood and Education
Born in Kyiv in 1965, Serhiy Lyovochkin's father was a decorated lawyer, and his mother a homemaker. He attended school in Kyiv before enrolling in the Kyiv Institute of National Economy in 1989. During his undergraduate studies, he became active in the international association AIESEC.
After graduating in 1993, Lyovochkin continued his education at the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade, graduating with a Master's degree in International Law. In 2004, he obtained a Doctorate in Economics from the Kyiv National Economic University.
Early Political Career
Serhiy Lyovochkin's political career began in 1996 as an advisor to the Governor of Donetsk Oblast, Viktor Yanukovych. In 1998, he unsuccessfully ran for parliament. From 1999, he held various roles within the presidential administration under Leonid Kuchma, including scientific consultant, secretary, and assistant.
During the Orange Revolution of 2004, Lyovochkin played a crucial role in brokering an agreement between Kuchma and Viktor Yushchenko. From 2005 to 2006, he served as an advisor to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Volodymyr Lytvyn.
Alliance with Yanukovych
In 2006, Serhiy Lyovochkin became head of the Secretariat of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. From 2007 to 2010, he was a member of the Verkhovna Rada, serving as deputy chairman of the Party of Regions. During Yanukovych's 2010 presidential campaign, Lyovochkin was a key strategist.
Head of the Presidential Administration
Serhiy Lyovochkin served as Head of the Presidential Administration under Yanukovych from 2010 to 2014. During his tenure, he was known as a "strong manager." However, he resigned in 2014 due to the Euromaidan protests.
Wealth and Family
Serhiy Lyovochkin is a wealthy businessman and philanthropist. In 2013, he acquired a 20% stake in the Inter Media Group, one of Ukraine's largest media conglomerates. He has been ranked among Ukraine's richest individuals.
Lyovochkin was married to the artist Zinaida Likhacheva. They had three children before divorcing.
