Early Life and Education
Yuriy Perebyinis was born on December 5, 1964, in Kyiv, Ukraine. In 1986, he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Theater Arts named after Karpenko-Karyi with a degree in Film Directing.
Professional Career
Perebyinis is a member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine. He is fluent in English, enjoys music, and is unmarried.
Despite his training in filmmaking, Perebyinis primarily worked in television. He directed several feature and documentary films, as well as numerous scripts and television journalism pieces.
Films
Perebyinis's graduation film, "The End of the School Holidays" (1986), marked the first screen appearance of Viktor Tsoi and the band "Kino." His debut feature film, "Lockdown" (1989), received the Grand Prize at the Mediawave International Visual Arts Festival (1994) and awards at film festivals in Kyiv, Moscow, and Târgu Mureș, Romania.
Notable documentaries include "Ivan Kozlovsky" (2000) about the renowned opera singer and "Positive People" (2005) about the challenges faced by people living with HIV. In 2007, he directed the television film "7 Days to the Wedding."
