Biography of Sergo Zakariadze

Sergo Zakariadze was a renowned actor and People's Artist of the USSR. He began his stage career in 1926 at the Rustaveli Theater in Tbilisi. In 1928, he became an actor at the 2nd State Theater in Kutaisi, which later became the K. Mardjanishvili Theater. In 1956, he returned to the Rustaveli Theater. In recognition of his exceptional talent, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1958. He was also a recipient of the Lenin Prize in 1960 and the State Prize in 1946 and 1952.

Zakariadze's acting prowess extended beyond the stage, as he also excelled in the world of cinema. He won the First Prize for Best Actor at the All-Union Film Festival in 1960. In 1965, he was honored with the Silver Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival.

In addition to his successful career in the arts, Zakariadze was also honored by having a ship named after him. The ship "Sergo Zakariadze" was affiliated with the Novorossiysk Shipping Company.
