Biography of Seyran Avagyan
Seyran Martirosovich Avagyan was born on December 15, 1954, in the village of Geibulakh, Nukh District. He is an Armenian statesman and a prominent figure in Armenian politics.
Education and Early Career
From 1972 to 1977, Avagyan attended Yerevan State University, where he studied mathematics. He later became a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences and earned a doctorate in geographical sciences. Avagyan worked as an engineer, head of a department, and chairman of the trade union at the Yerevan Institute of Mathematical Machines from 1977 to 1990.
Political Activism
Avagyan became actively involved in the wave of public liberation struggle that emerged in Armenia in 1988. Alongside his colleagues, many of whom were from the "NKR" committee, Avagyan played a central role in the movement. Starting from 1989, he provided employment and housing to refugees from Azerbaijan and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
Political Career
From 1990 to 1995, Avagyan served as a deputy in the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Financial-Budgetary, Credit, and Economic Affairs and part of the parliamentary group "National Democrats." Avagyan continued his political career as a parliament member from 1995 to 1999, and then from 1999 to 2003. He held positions in the Standing Committee on Financial-Budgetary, Credit, and Economic Affairs and served as the leader of the "NDS" faction.
Later Career
After his parliamentary tenure, Avagyan worked as an advisor to the President of Armenia from 2003 to 2007. In November 2007, he became a member of the Control Chamber of Armenia, where he contributed to the oversight of government activities.
Throughout his career, Seyran Avagyan has been a dedicated and influential figure in Armenian politics, actively working towards the development and progress of his country.
