Early Life and Education

Shaken Kenzhetaevich Aimanov, a renowned Kazakh film director, screenwriter, and actor, was born in Bayan-Aul (now Pavlodar Region), Kazakhstan. He studied at the Kazakh Institute of Education in Semipalatinsk from 1931 to 1933.

Theatre Career

From 1933 to 1947, Aimanov worked as an actor at the Kazakh Drama Theatre. In 1947, he became its chief director, a position he held until 1951.

Filmmaking

In 1953, Aimanov began his career as a film director and actor. He directed notable films such as "Raihan" (1940), "The Song of Abai" (1945), "The Golden Horn" (1948), "Jambul" (1952), and "The Beardless Deceiver" (1964). Aimanov also co-wrote the screenplays for many of these films.

Artistic Leadership

Aimanov served as artistic supervisor on several films, including "The Road of Life" (1959) and "The Wings of the Song" (1966). He received the Kazakh SSR's K. Beiseitova State Prize for his contribution to cinema in 1967.

Honors and Legacy

Aimanov was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR in 1959 and received the USSR State Prize for his theatrical work in 1952. The Kazakhfilm studio was named after him in recognition of his significant contributions to Kazakh cinema.
