Early Life and Career
Shalva Apkhazava, a Georgian footballer, was born and raised in Georgia. At eight years old, he joined his hometown's youth academy, where he spent four years before moving to Batumi Dynamo.
Rise to Prominence
Under the guidance of renowned agent Revaz Chelebadze, Apkhazava's talent blossomed. In 2002, he arrived in Ukraine to join the newly formed Arsenal Kyiv, managed by Vyacheslav Grozny.
Ukrainian Success
Apkhazava's impact in Ukraine was immediate. In just his third match, he scored a remarkable hat-trick against Volyn Lutsk. That season, he finished with 14 goals, becoming the fourth-highest scorer in league history.
Tragic Demise
On January 7, 2004, Apkhazava passed away at the age of 23 due to heart failure while sleeping.
