Early Life and Amateur Career

Shane Cameron was born on October 17, 1977, in Gisborne, New Zealand. He pursued amateur boxing, earning a bronze medal in the 91 kg weight class at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Professional Debut

At age 25, Cameron made his professional debut on November 28, 2002. By his 10th fight in December 2004, he secured his first title by knocking out Shane Wijohn for the New Zealand heavyweight championship.

Title Defenses

In 2006, Cameron became the IBF Pan Pacific champion and the WBA Pan African champion. He added the WBO Asia-Pacific title in 2007 and the WBO Oriental title in 2008.

Major Losses

In November 2007, Cameron suffered a 12th-round knockout loss to Friday Ahunanya. In 2009, he was defeated by David Tua in a second-round knockout.

Comeback and Pursuit of World Title

In 2012, Cameron rebounded with a knockout of Monte Barrett. He later challenged Danny Green for the vacant IBO world title, but lost by unanimous decision.

Retirement

Cameron's last fight was in December 2013 against Brian Minto, which he retired from after seven rounds.
