Shannon Rowbury: American Track and Field Star
Early Life and CareerShannon Rowbury was born on September 19, 1984, in San Francisco, California. She started running at a young age and excelled in track and field throughout her junior years. In addition to running, she also played other sports, such as soccer. Rowbury attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep high school until 2002, then enrolled at Duke College.
Professional Career
Rowbury began her professional running career in 2005. In 2006, she placed 6th at the United States Championships and won the NACAC U23 Championships (4:20.57). She also won a gold medal at the Bloomington meet (4:12.31), ranking 9th among U.S. women.
In 2007, Rowbury won the NCAA Championship in the mile (4:44.17) and placed second in the 3,000m. She suffered a severe injury shortly after, which ended her season prematurely.
Olympic Success
Rowbury recovered from her injury in time to compete in the 2008 Olympics. She won the U.S. Championship in the 3,000m (8:55.19), beating all her competitors. Rowbury also became the Olympic Trials Champion in the 1500m, with a time of 4:05.48.
Later Career
Rowbury continued to train and compete after the 2008 Olympics. Despite her young age, she has already accumulated a large following of fans. She is known for her relentless dedication and her ability to bounce back from setbacks.

Rowbury lives and trains in San Francisco. Her coach is John Cook, a former runner, and her agent is Peter Stubbs. She is sponsored by Nike.
