Early Life and Career
Shinji Kagawa was born in Kobe, Japan, in March 1989. He began training at various youth academies in his hometown at a young age. At 12, he joined the Miyagi Academy and later became the first Japanese player to sign a professional football contract before graduating from high school when he joined Cerezo Osaka at 16.

Debut and Rise in Japan
Kagawa made his debut in the J2 League in 2007 and played in the J1 League three years later, scoring seven goals. He also represented Japan at the 2008 Olympics. His impressive performances caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund Era
In summer 2010, Kagawa joined Borussia Dortmund on a three-year contract for a fee of €300,000. He made his debut the following day, impressing in the first half against Lotte. With Dortmund, he won two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup.

Manchester United Transfer
In summer 2012, Kagawa moved to Manchester United for a reported fee of €16 million. He chose to wear the number 23 shirt instead of the iconic number 7, which had been worn by legends like David Beckham, Eric Cantona, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

International Career
