Fabian Widmer: Swiss Football Star
Early Life and Club CareerFabian Widmer, a renowned Swiss footballer, began his journey with the local club Vürenlos. In his youth, he honed his skills at Baden and Aarau, showcasing his talent in the latter's reserve team, Aarau II. During the 2010/11 season, he made nine appearances and netted two goals.
On July 23, 2011, Widmer made his senior debut for Aarau against Winterthur. His first goal came on November 21, 2011, in a match against St. Gallen. In total, he played 65 matches in the Challenge League for Aarau, scoring 11 goals.
Move to Granada and Udinese
In 2012, Widmer joined Spanish side Granada for a transfer fee of €750,000. However, he did not make any appearances for the team and spent the 2012/13 season on loan at his former club Aarau. The following year, Granada sold Widmer to Italian club Udinese. He made his debut for Udinese on November 3, 2013, in a match against Inter Milan.
International Career
Widmer has represented Switzerland at various youth levels, including the U18, U19, and U21 squads. He made his senior international debut on October 14, 2014, in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match against San Marino, coming on as a substitute for Stephan Lichtsteiner in the 59th minute. Switzerland emerged victorious with a 4-0 scoreline.
