Early LifeSolange Knowles is an American actress, R&B and pop singer, producer, model, and dancer. She was born on January 24, 1986, in Houston, Texas, USA. She is the younger sister of singer Beyoncé Knowles.

Rise to Fame
Solange's father became her manager, which helped her break into the music industry in 2001 when she appeared on the album "8 Days of Christmas" by the group Destiny's Child. She provided vocals for the tracks "Little Drummer Boy" and "Proud Family". The following year, Solange collaborated on the second studio album of Lil' Romeo titled "Game Time" (2002) and sang the part of "So Amazing" for the single "True Love", written by R&B legend Luther Vandross. She also collaborated with Kelly Rowland on her second album "Simply Deep" (2002), for which she came up with the title track.

Solo Career
Continuing to collaborate with artists, Solange worked intensively on her debut album. She worked with top producers such as Jermaine Dupri, the production duo "The Neptunes," Linda Perry, and influential founder of the "Beat Club" label, Timbaland. Solange became a co-producer and writer of eleven tracks on her album "Solo Star," including the lead single "Feelin' You (Part II)" (produced by Damon Elliott). The song did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100, but reached the third position on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales chart and Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales chart. The album was released on January 21, 2003, in the United States and debuted at number 49 on the Billboard 200 album chart and number 23 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the album sold 112,000 copies in the US.
Later Projects
The following year, Solange contributed to songs for Destiny's Child, Michelle Williams, gospel trio Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and her sister Beyoncé, including the singles "Get Me Bodied," "Upgrade U," and "We Break the Dawn." In 2005, Solange appeared in the music video for Destiny's Child's song "Soldier" while pregnant with her son Daniel. In late 2007, she signed a new music contract with Geffen Records while recording her second album. The new material showcased elements of contemporary twist, R&B, blues, and jazz. The album featured collaborations with CeeLo Green, Danish production duo "Soulshock & Karlin," and Mark Ronson, with guest artists like Lil Wayne and Bilal.
Recent Endeavors
Solange completed her second studio album in 2008, titled "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams." The music video for the first single, "I Decided" (produced by The Neptunes), premiered on June 4, 2008. The single reached the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Sales charts. She collaborated with British producers from Freemasons for the album's release in the UK and Europe. Solange also appeared in various TV shows and movies, including "One on One," "The Garcia Brothers," "Taina," and sports comedy "Bring It On: All or Nothing." She modeled for her mother's clothing line, "House of Deréon," and helped launch her sister's fashion line for younger customers. Personal Life
Solange is the daughter of Mathew, an African-American, and Tina Knowles, a Creole (African-American and French-American roots). She was married to football player Daniel Smith from February 2004. They had a son, Daniel Julez Smith Jr., born on October 18, 2004. In October 2007, Solange confirmed rumors of her divorce from Smith in an interview with Essence magazine. She has been featured in magazines such as Teen People, Seventeen, YM, Honey, and J-14. Solange has expressed her love for music but also stated that she will not pursue it until the end of her life and will stop doing it if it no longer brings her joy.
