Early Career and BreakthroughBorn in Berlin in 1961, Solvig Dommartin's acting career began on the stage. Her debut film role came in 1987 in Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire," where she played Marion, a circus acrobat who falls in love with an angel. Dommartin performed all of her own stunts in the film.
Collaboration with Wim Wenders
Dommartin's collaboration with Wenders continued in 1991 with "Until the End of the World," after which she accompanied him on a promotional tour for the film. She also appeared in five other films directed by Wenders, including "Faraway, So Close!", a sequel to "Wings of Desire."
Personal Life and Later Career
From 1986 to 1993, Dommartin was in a relationship with Wim Wenders. They had a daughter together named Venus. Dommartin continued to act sporadically throughout her career.
Tragic Passing
In 2007, at the age of 45, Solvig Dommartin suffered a heart attack and passed away. She is fondly remembered for her captivating performances and the unique collaboration she shared with Wim Wenders.
