Born in Daegu, South Korea on January 11, 1982, Son Ye-jin grew up with an older sister. After graduating high school in 2000, she enrolled in the Film Department at the Seoul National University of the Arts. However, she dropped out shortly after to pursue her acting career.
Early Career and Rise to Stardom
Son Ye-jin began her acting journey in the early 2000s. Her breakout role came in the 2002 drama "Summer Scent," which earned her the MBC Acting Award for Newcomer of the Year. She continued to gain recognition with films such as "Painted Fire" (2002) and "Classic" (2003), which became popular in China and Hong Kong.

In 2006, Son Ye-jin expanded her range by portraying a con artist in the comedy "My Wife is a Gangster 3," an ambitious journalist in the drama "Spotlight," and a femme fatale in "Open City."
