After working in accounting for a period of time, Sonya decided to venture into a different field that captivated her interest – beauty pageants. Prior to Sonya's efforts, beauty pageants were virtually unheard of in Pakistan. She was determined to change that. Her vision was to showcase the beauty and talent of Pakistani women to the world, facilitating their integration into the global community.

In 2002, Sonya organized her first beauty pageant, 'Miss Canada Pakistan', exclusively for Pakistani women residing in Canada. Over the next three years, she continued to host beauty pageants in Canada, which eventually expanded to a global level in 2006 with the introduction of 'Miss World Pakistan'. This pageant became a platform for Sonya to advocate for women's rights and their empowerment, asserting their right to voice opinions on international matters.

In 2007, Sonya launched 'Mrs. World Pakistan', a groundbreaking beauty pageant that allowed married Pakistani women from around the world to participate. Previously, it was considered unimaginable for married women in Pakistan to participate in beauty pageants, but Sonya's efforts opened up new horizons for them.

In 2011, Sonya introduced yet another innovative concept with the creation of 'Mr. World Pakistan', a beauty pageant for relatively young Pakistani men. By this time, the Pakistani society had become more receptive to Western influences, thanks in part to the gradual acceptance of Sonya's earlier initiatives.

Sonya's endeavors were successful in integrating Western culture into Pakistani society, and beauty pageants became a regular occurrence in the country, no longer evoking controversy. Even the conservatives, initially opposed to Sonya's ideas, eventually came to accept and embrace the changes.

In 2014, Sonya released her first documentary film, 'I Shall Dance', which shed light on various social issues. Furthermore, she actively sponsors several charitable projects around the world, including her participation in events and meetings concerning Indo-Pakistani relations and women's rights in India.

Sonya Ahmed's remarkable journey as the organizer of beauty pageants in Pakistan has not only brought about cultural transformation but has also empowered Pakistani women to embrace their beauty and talents on a global stage.
