Stefan Kiedrzyński

Stefan Kiedrzyński (1863-1934) was a prominent Polish writer, journalist, and playwright, known for his "bourgeois comedies."

Early Life and Education

Born in Warsaw, Kiedrzyński attended the Trade School in Warsaw and the Higher Trade Institute in Antwerp.

Journalistic and Editorial Career

Upon returning to Poland, he founded and edited the weekly "Mir" (1906-1933). He also served as editor of "Kurier Polski" from 1915 to 1920.

Theater and Dramaturgy

From 1919, Kiedrzyński was the chairman of the Union of Dramatists. He held the positions of director of the Warsaw City Theaters and the National Theater from 1931 to 1934.

Literary Works

Kiedrzyński's popular prose works included the novellas "In the Struggle of Life" (1898) and "Twilight" (1901), and the short story collection "From Hunting Adventures and Impressions" (1927). His plays, such as "The Beautiful Gardener" (1902) and "The Little Souls" (1903), depicted the social life of Warsaw.
