Biography of Stepan Rostomyan
Stepan Rostomyan is a renowned Armenian composer who has made significant contributions to the world of music. He began his musical journey by graduating from the violin class at the R. Melikyan Music School. Later, in 1980, he pursued his studies in composition at the Yerevan State Conservatory.
Early Career
From 1980 to 1984, Rostomyan worked as a musical assistant for the Armenian State Academic Chapel. During this time, he showcased his talent and honed his skills as a composer. His dedication and passion for music led him to take on teaching positions at the Yerevan State Conservatory in 1989, where he imparted his knowledge of composition and instrumentation to aspiring musicians.
International Recognition
In 1989, Rostomyan was invited to the University of Glasgow in Scotland as a guest lecturer, where he shared his expertise with students. His exceptional musical abilities caught the attention of the Armenian arts community, and in 1990, he became the musical director of the Yerevan State Academic Theatre named after G. Sundukyan.

From 1994 to 2002, Rostomyan served as the head of the sharakan department at the "Gandzasar" Theological Center and was the chief editor of various musical publications. In 1997, he became the director of the Armenian Center for Contemporary Music, further solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the Armenian music scene.
Academic Achievements
Rostomyan's dedication to the field of music education led him to become a professor at the Yerevan State Conservatory in 2000, having previously held the position of associate professor. Artistic Director and Founder
In the early 2000s, Rostomyan took on the role of artistic director for various prestigious events and organizations. He became the artistic director of the "Perspectives of the 21st Century" International Music and Arts Festival in 2000 and the festivals organized by the State Committee for the Celebration of Christianity in Armenia from 2001 to 2002. Additionally, in 2002, Rostomyan was one of the founders of the cultural radio station "VEM."
Recognition

In 2003, he was elected as an academician of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, solidifying his status as one of the leading composers of the second half of the 20th century.
