Biography of Stefan Lissner
Stefan Lissner, the current conductor of the renowned Parisian theater "Chalet," was born in 1953 in the French capital. He comes from a family of Hungarian immigrants and became a professional musician at a very young age, composing his first piece at 16.
Director and Teacher
For many years, Lissner led the Center for Dramatic Arts in Nice and taught at the University of Paris. He also served as the conductor for the "Orchestre de Paris" in the capital. Lissner is known for his innovative approach to music, although critics also associate him with the "Mozart-Baroque" tradition.
Artistic Director of La Scala
The famous Milanese opera house, La Scala, has found a new artistic director in Maestro Stefan Lissner. He took over the position from renowned conductor Riccardo Muti, who left due to conflicts with the theater's collective. Lissner will also simultaneously hold the role of director at La Scala.
International Opera Festival
Until 2009, Lissner will continue to serve as the artistic director of the international opera festival in Aix-en-Provence, France, a role he has held since 1998.
