He made his debut in the film "The Gate" (1987), where he played a child. He was then noticed in the drama "Always Remember I Love You", in which he portrayed a sixteen-year-old boy in search of his real parents. In 1992, he played the lead role in the powerful drama "The Power of One". In 1993, he was one of the four guys who decided to go to a football game but got involved in a terrifying story in the action-packed film "S.F.W". In 1994, Dorff brilliantly portrayed the fifth "Beatle", Stuart Sutcliffe, in the film "Backbeat" or "The Fifth Beatle".
