Biography of Stian Aarstad

Stian Aarstad, also known as Stian Orstad, is a Norwegian musician and former keyboardist of the black metal band Dimmu Borgir. Born in Norway, Aarstad gained recognition for his unique stage presence, as he opted for minimal corpse paint during live performances and often wore a top hat and attire reminiscent of Jack the Ripper.

Stolen Songs and Controversies

One of the notable controversies surrounding Aarstad is the alleged theft of songs. It is said that the song "Sorgens Kammer" from the album "Stormblåst" was taken by Aarstad from the computer game "Agony" for the Amiga. Additionally, he reportedly stole the keyboard introduction from the song "Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen" from the band Magnum's track "Sacred Hour." As a result, the reissue of the album "Stormblåst" did not include the introduction to "Alt Lys Er Svunnet Hen," and the song "Sorgens Kammer" was rewritten and released as "Sorgens kammer — del II."

There are rumors that during his time with Dimmu Borgir from 1993 to 1997, Aarstad did not listen to any metal music, instead preferring classical music. However, these rumors remain unconfirmed.

Departure from Dimmu Borgir and Post-Music Career

Aarstad left Dimmu Borgir due to his military service obligations. After his departure, he worked as a sound engineer. In 1998 and 1999, he produced the demo EP for the unblack metal band Vaakevandring.
