Biography of Sulley Muntari
Early Life and CareerSulley Muntari, a Ghanaian footballer, was born in the town of Konongo into a family of a football coach. This greatly influenced his destiny. "My father was a coach, so my fate was predetermined," Muntari explains. "Interestingly, I didn't want to play with kids my age, I always wanted to play with older boys. I even washed their jerseys just to have a chance to play with them, even for a minute." Muntari began his career at the Ghanaian club "Liberty Professionals" in 2001 and at the age of 16, he played for the Ghana U-20 national team. With that team, Muntari achieved a historic second place in the 2001 FIFA U-20 World Cup. "We finished second, right behind Argentina," the footballer recalls. "I remember we beat Brazil with Adriano scoring the first goal, and then we won 2-1." However, Muntari did not have the opportunity to play for "Liberty Professionals" for long as he was invited to the Italian Serie A club, Udinese, just a year later.

Italian Journey and Transfer to Portsmouth
Sulley Muntari made his debut for Udinese against AC Milan, and despite the team's loss, he immediately caught the attention of fans and football critics. With each season, Muntari improved and scored goals more frequently. In 2007, when the most prestigious Italian clubs - "Milan", "Inter", "Roma", and "Juventus" - were interested in Muntari, he unexpectedly chose the English club, Portsmouth. The English club paid a record fee of £7.1 million for the player. However, Muntari did not manage to perform at the expected level in Portsmouth. Despite winning the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium with the team, he moved back to Italy after the season.

Success at Inter Milan
This time, Muntari was fortunate enough to play for Inter Milan. "There are some offers you can't refuse. I love Portsmouth, but when you get a chance to play for Inter, you can't pass it up," commented the footballer on his transfer. The new Inter Milan coach, Jose Mourinho, invited Muntari after it became clear that Frank Lampard would not leave Chelsea. Muntari moved from Portsmouth to the Italian club for €16 million. He won the love of Inter Milan fans after scoring several magnificent goals that often led the team to important victories. He continues to be called up for the national team. In 2008, during the African Cup of Nations tournament held in Ghana, Sulley Muntari was named the tournament's best player, and his goal in the 89th minute against Guinea was recognized as the best goal of the tournament.
