Da-Wen Sun is a renowned Professor of Food and Bioprocess Engineering at University College Dublin, National University of Ireland. Hailing from Southern China, Professor Sun has established himself as a global expert in food engineering research and education.
Pioneer in Innovative Food Engineering
Professor Sun's research interests span cooling, drying, refrigeration processes and systems, food quality and safety, bioprocess modeling and optimization, and machine vision systems. His groundbreaking work on vacuum cooling of cooked meat, machine vision inspection of pizza quality, and edible coatings for the extended storage of fruits and vegetables have garnered significant national and international media attention.

Before his appointment at various European universities, Professor Sun received top-notch education in China, including a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology, a Master of Science in Food Science, and a PhD in Food Science and Technology. He made history as the first Chinese faculty member at an Irish university, joining University College Dublin in 1995 as a College Lecturer.
