Early Life and Political BeginningsBorn in Seville, Spain, Susana Díaz completed her law degree at the University of Seville. Her political journey began at the tender age of 17, when she joined the Socialist Youth organization of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE).
Local and Regional Politics
In 1999, Díaz was elected to the Seville City Council, where she focused on youth affairs and labor issues. Her exceptional performance led to her election as a member of the Spanish Parliament's Lower House in 2004.
National Parliament
In 2008, Díaz ascended to the Upper House of the Spanish Parliament, serving as the PSOE's parliamentary spokesperson. Her eloquent speeches and sharp wit made her a prominent figure in national politics.
Return to Andalusia
In 2012, Díaz returned to Andalusia and joined the regional government. She took charge of equality issues and coordinated the government's partnership with the United Left.
Presidency of Andalusia
Following José Antonio Griñán's decision not to seek re-election, Díaz emerged as the PSOE's sole candidate for the presidency of Andalusia. In September 2013, she was elected as the region's first female president.

At an extraordinary PSOE congress, Díaz was elected as the party's general secretary in Andalusia. Under her leadership, the PSOE emerged victorious in the 2015 Andalusian elections but lost its parliamentary majority.
Coalitions and Alliances
Díaz declined a potential alliance with Podemos, led by Teresa Rodríguez. Instead, she formed a coalition with another emerging party, Citizens. This strategic move ensured political stability in Andalusia.
