Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia in 1971, Porter grew up in a family of medical professionals alongside her two older sisters, Kathy and Jackie, and her younger sister, Louise. After graduating high school, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Newcastle. Subsequently, Porter honed her acting skills at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney.
Film Career
Porter made her screen debut in 1996, appearing in various Australian films and television series. Her breakthrough came four years later with the role of Detective Jill in the thriller "The Monkey's Mask" (2000). The film earned her critical acclaim and won her a Best Actress award at the Out takes Film Festival in Dallas.
In 2002, Porter joined the cast of the blockbuster "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones" as Hermione Bagwa, a survivor of the Clone Wars who works as a waitress. While she initially voiced both Hermione and the droid WA-7, only the droid's lines remained in the final cut.
