Susie Tompkins is an American designer and entrepreneur who is best known for co-founding the global fashion company "Esprit de Corp." Born in the United States, Tompkins began her career in the fashion industry in 1964 when she met her future husband, Olympic skier Doug Tompkins, while hitchhiking near Lake Tahoe. They fell in love and got married six months later.

Together with their friend Jane, the Tompkinses launched their own custom clothing business, which quickly gained success in its first four years. In 1971, they became involved with Michael Ying, the founder of what would later become the "Esprit Far East Group." They acquired a stake in the company, which led to the birth of "Esprit de Corp."
