Susana Vieira: A Brazilian Actress

Over her 40-year career, Susana Vieira has become accustomed to being surrounded by crowds on the streets. However, she doesn't mind it at all, saying, "I love being out in public, just walking on the streets, going to the market, meeting old acquaintances, and chatting with them about the weather, future elections, or upcoming sales."

A Familiar Routine

Every morning, after a modest breakfast of boiled eggs, toast, and coffee, the 57-year-old Brazilian actress, Sonia Maria Vieira Goncalves, leaves her home, gets into her car, drives through busy streets for about five minutes, and then gets out of the car, crosses the street, and merges into the bustling crowd surrounding the largest food market in Ipanema, in the southern part of Rio de Janeiro. This area is like a second home to Sonia, and visiting the market is as routine for her as giving interviews to journalists or appearing on television. The sellers and buyers are not surprised to see the famous actress, a Globo star, among them, as she rushes to make her purchases, just like any other person.

A Grandmother's Role

For Susana, who is known to the public as Susana Vieira, being a grandmother is still a bit difficult to adjust to, despite having two beloved grandsons. Her 5-year-old grandson, Rafael, and 3-year-old grandson, Bruno, live with their father, Susana's only son, Rodrigo Otavio, in Miami. However, they frequently visit their grandmother in Brazil. But the expression "going for a walk with grandma" doesn't seem to fit their family dynamic, as Susana says, "I'm always in high heels, wearing shorts and showing off my midriff. I'm not a typical grandmother!" Nevertheless, Susana is a true grandmother in every other aspect, constantly spoiling her beloved grandsons, feeding them delicious treats, taking them for walks and playing, buying them endless toys, bathing them, and singing lullabies before bedtime.

A Personal Paradise

Susana's country estate, located in the prestigious Mendes neighborhood, about 126 km from the capital, is a favorite place for the family to gather. The property spans nearly 450 square meters and features everything for a comfortable life, including a large swimming pool, an artificial lake, a football field, a gazebo with a grill for barbecues, a rose garden, horses, and a large number of dogs. The architectural design of Susana's enormous house, as well as the entire estate's layout, was developed by her husband, Carson, whom she married 16 years ago. When the children come to visit, there is more than enough space for everyone. "This is my favorite place in the world. Here, I escape the hustle and bustle of the city and endless responsibilities. I relax my soul and do whatever I want. When we bought this plot 16 years ago, there were only bushes here, but Carson turned this land into our little paradise. We have everything here, and lately, Carson has been considering building a chapel. He enjoys overseeing construction projects. It's only here that I become a real woman, cooking for my husband, taking care of my home, inviting guests for weekends, organizing picnics, and playing football. In fact, I live a completely different life from my life in Rio de Janeiro."

A Love for Animals

As a big animal lover, Susana cannot imagine her life without dogs. Therefore, she has eight dogs living on her estate, mostly strays she found on the streets of Rio. In her Rio de Janeiro apartment, she has three more beloved pets: Peter Tosh, a Beagle, Max, a large German Shepherd, and George, a tiny Yorkshire Terrier, who is currently her favorite dog. Despite considering sleep and relaxation her favorite activities at her country estate, Susana never neglects her daily skincare routine. She washes her face in the mornings with milk mixed with bran, uses moisturizing creams generously, and washes her hair twice a day with special shampoos. And she always drinks four liters of water per day, saying, "I have diabetes, and I need to consume a certain amount of fluids per day. During a lunch in Paris, I met Sophia Loren, who gave me excellent advice on treating diabetes. Since then, I have been drinking four liters of water per day." However, Susana Vieira believes that the best recipes for maintaining female beauty and charm are good mood and the love of close ones. She often repeats, "None of us can avoid aging, but if you have new wrinkles on your face, let them appear from laughter!"
