Sven Bender Biography

Sven Bender is a German footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for the club "Borussia" in Dortmund. He was born in Rosenheim, Bavaria. Along with his twin brother Lars, Sven started his football career at the Brannenburg football school and later moved up to the youth academy of "Unterhaching" club.

In 2003, the talented twins caught the attention of the second-tier club in Munich, "Munich 1860". In 2006, Sven was registered for the second team of Munich and soon after signed a contract with the first team. Alongside his brother, they formed a powerful midfield duo. In total, Sven played 65 matches and scored 1 goal for "Munich 1860".

Before the 2009/10 season, the young player drew the interest of Dortmund's "Borussia" and eventually signed a contract with them. This is where their paths diverged as Lars chose to transfer to "Bayer" Leverkusen. Sven made his Bundesliga debut on September 19, 2009, in an away match against "Hannover", which ended in a 1-1 draw. He played the full match and performed well. In his first season with "Borussia", Sven played 19 matches.

Sven has also represented various youth national teams and currently plays for the German U-21 team. In 2008, he became the champion of Europe among the U-19 youth. He has a twin brother, Lars Bender, who is a player for "Bayer" Leverkusen. Sven has won the German championship twice, in 2011 and 2012, and is also a holder of the German Cup in 2012.
