In 1974, the television series "Walking on Thorns," based on the novel by Alexei Tolstoy, made Svetlana Penkina a well-known actress, if not a star. She played the character Katya Bulavina, while her sister Dasha was portrayed by Irina Alferova. The same year, Penkina also acted as Zoe in the film "The Color of Gold." She continued to work in films such as the historical-revolutionary film "Dust Under the Sun" and the drama "And We Had Silence..." in 1977.

In 1981, Penkina participated in the filming of the musical comedy "Take Care of Women," directed by Victor Makarov and Alexander Polynnikov. Her role as Olga, a boatswain, entertained the audience, and the film became a success, with Yuri Antonov's excellent songs accompanying it.

Despite the prediction of a great future in acting for Svetlana Penkina, her career ended abruptly. In 1982, she played the role of Lida in "Solar Wind" and, in 1985, portrayed Vika's secretary in "To the Coming Century." After these movies, she did not appear in any more films.

In 1978, Svetlana Penkina met Vladimir Mulyavin, the lead singer of the famous musical group "Pesnyary." They were both at the peak of their popularity at the time. Penkina recalls, "I was going for the dubbing of the film 'Walking on Thorns,' and Volodya and the guys were recording a new album in the sound studio. I remember being struck by my first impression of him: childlike vulnerability, huge radiant eyes... And shyness, surprise. I noted for myself that this person was probably not as others spoke of him."

They did not see each other for three years after that encounter but reunited in Grodno. Penkina visited the city to see her father, while "Pesnyary" had performances there. Surprisingly, Penkina was not familiar with their music before attending their concert. However, the performance changed her perception of the group. She recalls, "In Grodno, I saw on stage, above all, a complete musical spectacle, a canvas. I saw the true scale of Mulyavin and was amazed..." In turn, Mulyavin had watched "Walking on Thorns" and was enthralled by Penkina's portrayal of his favorite literary character. Fate brought them together - the singer and the beauty. Many doubted their ability to have a harmonious marriage, given their strong personalities. However, they defied all odds and demonstrated their love and loyalty to each other. Svetlana became Vladimir Mulyavin's muse and support in life.

With her direct support, an outstanding play named "In a Full Voice" was created in 1987, based on the works of Vladimir Mayakovsky. Penkina was responsible for the selection of literary material. She remained by her husband's side throughout their marriage.

Their separation came with the death of Vladimir Mulyavin. On May 14, 2002, the artist was involved in a car accident. Eight months later, on January 26, 2003, he passed away in Moscow at the Burdenko Neurosurgery Institute. Since then, Svetlana Penkina has been dedicated to preserving the memory of the remarkable Russian singer and musician. She leads the Vladimir Mulyavin Museum, striving to ensure that it remains authentic and true to his legacy. She aims to prevent any falseness or exaggeration in his name.
