Biography of Svetlana Rubinina

Svetlana Rubinina is a jazz singer who graduated from the Kishinev Conservatory, specializing in piano. She started her career as a performer of popular songs while also exploring her passion for jazz. In Kishinev, she co-founded the renowned ensemble "Orizont" together with Oleg Milstein. The group incorporated Moldavian and Romanian musical traditions into their jazz compositions, creating a unique and popular sound.

In 1986, Svetlana made a definitive choice by becoming a soloist for the famous Oleg Lundstrom Jazz Orchestra. She has remained loyal to this ensemble, performing with them in Moscow and on numerous international tours. Svetlana has participated in many Russian and international jazz festivals and was awarded the laureate diploma at the Grenoble Jazz Festival.

Svetlana Rubinina is a vibrant swing singer with a powerful three-octave range. She collaborates with various groups of musicians, including Igor Brill, Yuri Markin, and the duo of pianist Andrey Razin and bassist Igor Ivanushkin. While she is well-versed in the classical repertoire of jazz vocalists, Svetlana also ventures into experimental territories adjacent to jazz. Her repertoire includes a significant number of songs by Russian composers renowned in the world of jazz and pop music.

Recently, she teamed up with popular singer Leonid Serebryannikov to record Igor Levin's musical "Non-Stop, Hollywood" on the radio. Svetlana combines her concert performances with teaching vocal techniques at the Higher School of Fine Arts.

Collaboration with Igor Brill

At the "Eurasia" jazz festival held in Orenburg in 1999, Svetlana Rubinina performed in a duet with People's Artist of Russia and professor Igor Mikhailovich Brill. This creative partnership was both interesting and fruitful, receiving praise from critics and audiences. The duo of Igor Brill and Svetlana Rubinina will once again showcase their talents at the "Jazz Voices" festival with a new program featuring famous American standards in original arrangements. Other musicians will join the duo in several compositions. The full ensemble lineup includes Igor Brill on piano, Evgeny Onischenko on double bass, and Igor Ignatov on drums. Special guests for the program will be Natalya Userdova on alto saxophone and Vadim Akhmetgareev on trombone.
