Biography of Svetlana Selezneva
Svetlana Selezneva is a Russian actress who began her career in the film industry in the 1980s. She made her debut in the melodrama "Damskoe Tango" in 1983, portraying the character of Lucy Filimonova. In 1987, fate brought her together with director Leonid Nechaev, who cast her in the leading role of Kati Batistova in his film "Repetitor". Selezneva described the role as multi-faceted and very interesting to work on.

Following "Repetitor", Nechaev began shooting another film, the fairytale melodrama "Ne Pokiday" (Don't Leave). Selezneva was entrusted with the role of Marcela. Reflecting on her experience, she said, "Working on the film 'Ne Pokiday' was joyful. I rehearsed a lot of dances with the wonderful ballet master Yuri Troyan, but unfortunately, only a small part made it into the film. We rehearsed for a long time, and it was difficult because I danced barefoot on the cobblestone pavement in Tallinn."
The film "Ne Pokiday" became a significant event in the late 80s Russian cinema. It featured outstanding actors such as Albert Filozov, Vyacheslav Nevinny, Lidia Fedoseeva-Shuksina, Igor Krasavin, and Varvara Vladimirova. The film's success was also attributed to its beautiful songs, including "Ne Pokiday" and "Podari Atamanu Loshadku". Selezneva's voice was dubbed by other actresses in both "Repetitor" and "Ne Pokiday". While she was satisfied with the dubbing in "Repetitor", she expressed dissatisfaction with her voice in "Ne Pokiday", describing it as too soft.
In 1989, the film "Ne Pokiday" was released, followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union a year later. The country underwent significant changes, including a crisis and a lack of job opportunities. Selezneva had to leave the Moscow Art Theatre, where she had been working. Explaining her departure, she said, "It became boring, there were no new productions. Doronina doesn't like individuality; she wants obedient artists, faceless ones, but I believe that everything in the theater should be vivid."
After leaving the theatre, Selezneva worked as a cleaner in a company called "UPSA", and later in a travel agency in order to survive. However, her desire for creative work led her to open a children's theatre studio, where she invited Leonid Nechaev for a creative meeting.
Selezneva made her return to the film industry in the new century. She often plays supporting roles in crime films and TV series. Some of her notable works include playing psychologist Alla Dmitrievna in the series "Uboynaya Sila-3", Irina Fomina in the series "Liteyny, 4", and director of a children's home Vera Ignatyevna in the film "Zashchita Krasina-2". She has also appeared in various roles in the series "Ulicy Razbityh Fonarey" and "Tayny sledstviya-8".
