Early Life and Education
General-Major Omirbek Yerkinuly Asanbayev was born on March 31, 1968, in the village of Asubulak in Eastern Kazakhstan. In 1989, he graduated with honors from the Volsk Higher Military Academy of Logistics.
Military Career in Western Group of Troops
After graduating, General Asanbayev served in the Western Group of Troops, where he held various logistics positions at the unit level. In 1993, he joined the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan
In Kazakhstan, General Asanbayev served in various logistics roles. In 1999, he graduated with distinction and a gold medal from the Military Academy of Logistics and Transport of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. He was subsequently appointed Head of the Food Service of the Department of Logistics of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Leadership Positions
From 2001 to 2006, General Asanbayev served as Deputy Commander of the Republican Guard of Kazakhstan. In 2008, he graduated with honors and a gold medal from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He then became the Head of Logistics for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Deputy Minister of Defense
In March 2010, General Asanbayev was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On May 7, 2010, he was promoted to the rank of General-Major.
